” Young man, I’m really sorry for all that has happened” The owner of the car said to Gerald, jolting him back to reality.

” I promise to cover all necessary bills, this is my card” he said handing Gerald his card.

Gerald just stared at him, not trusting himself to speak.

” I have to go now, I promise to keep in touch.

Call me if there’s any new development”
His eyes followed the man, and his driver who now looked calm.

Standing to his feet he began pacing the hallway like an expectant father. Just immediately the Doctor showed up again.
” Doctor, how is she?” He asked ” can I see her?”
” Of course you can see her, she’s conscious now. But we gave her some sedative she will be asleep for the next 8 to 9 hours or even more. It depends on the individual” leading the way the doctor said ” this way please”
Tony and Segun had hurriedly followed Gerald and the doctor.

Walking into the room, Gerald broke down in tears. Seeing Sade lay on the bed not aware of anything around her.
” Sir, please keep calm. She needs enough sleep to relax her brain” he told Gerald. ” Please we need you to be quiet” the doctor said leaving the room.

Segun was already feeling uncomfortable, he wanted to go home. He signaled to Tony who told Gerald they all needed to rest especially him.

” Its time to go bro” Tony told Gerald taping his shoulder. ” Go?” Gerald asked ” like go where Tony?” He asked again.

” Go home I mean” Tony replied ” thank God she’s pulling through you heard the doctor say she will be asleep for the 9 hours or more. She’s going to be awake tomorrow, why not come get some rest.

Gerald wasn’t in the mood to argue, he just said ” you guys can leave, I’ll be here till she wake”. ” You can’t be serious a surprised Tony blurted out staring at both Segun and Gerald. ” Well you’ll find out soon”
Tony knew nothing could make Gerald change his mind, pulling segun’s hand they went out of the ward.

” Guy, I can’t leave here if Gerald isn’t leaving” he said giving him a serious look. ”

We both know we are involved in this crisis”
Segun who had been feeling guilty and cursing himself silently didn’t know what to do.

Hearing Tony he made up his mind to also stay.
” I’m not leaving either” he finally said. They both walked back into the ward. ” We are gonna stay behind too” Gerald heard Segun’s voice.

Gerald could only manage a nod, glancing at segun he was filled with shame he looked so miserable. Tony and Segun agreed to sleep in the hallway. While Gerald slept with Sade.

Bukola had almost gone crazy, she’d been trying Sade’s number before she left her boyfriend’s house.

She knew sade was at Gerald’s, but she couldn’t fathom her reason for not picking her calls. She silently prayed nothing bad has happened to her.

She decided to call Sade’s mother, to inquire if she spoke with her thar day.

” Hello mummy, ekale ma” she greeted in yoruba language immediately the woman picked the call.

” Kale, my dear. How are you and your mother?” ” Is your friend there? I’ve been trying to reach her since but she isn’t picking o. I was about calling you gan, when your call came in”
Bukola’s jaw dropped.

She didn’t know what to tell the woman. ”

Erm mummy, I guess she’s fine although she went out today. But she’s yet to return, I’ve been calling her. I thought you’ve heard from… ” Ehen! What do you mean by you’ve been calling her?” The old lady interrupted bukola.

” Where did she go”. She asked ” mummy she went to see a friend ni o” taking a deep breath the woman asked again.

” Where does this friend stay?”. Bukola replied. ” Around magodo ma, mummy let’s not panick I know sade she’ll call as soon as she sees the missed calls” Bukola assured her.

” Aaah! Okay o, if you hear from her let me know. I will do the same. Shogbo?”
” Yes ma I’ll call you as soon as she comes in” Bukola said ending the call.

Bukola couldn’t hept but remain scared, it was past 9 already. Sade had never stayed out this late. She regretted not having Gerald’s number…
