Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate Programmes for the 2023/2024 Academic Session:

A. Available Programmes

(1) FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES:

Available Degrees: M.Tech., M.Phil, M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. Basic Requirement:

All candidates seeking admission to programmes in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences must possess five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(i) Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work with specialization in:

Admission requirements (a) Basic Requirements:

Candidate for (i) must possess five (5) O’ Level credit passes including English

Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Arts and/or Social Sciences subjects.

Candidate for (ii) above must possess five (5) O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Arts and/or Social Science subjects.

(b) Specific Requirements:

Candidate for (i) must be a

i. Holder of HND with a minimum of Lower Credit, Registered Nursing Certificate, Community Health Certificate or their equivalents from recognized higher institutions.

Candidate for (ii) must

i. Hold First Degree of not less than Second Class Lower Division in relevant areas (Health Education and Special Education, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, and any other relevant discipline in Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities) OR

ii. Hold LAUTECH Postgraduate Diploma Certificate or its equivalent from other recognized Universities.

Candidate must possess five (5) O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(a) Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing;

(b) Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing;

(c) Department of Community/Public Health Nursing; (d) Department of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing;

(11) FACULTY OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES

Available Degrees: PGD, M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Phil, M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D Basic Requirement:

All candidates seeking admission to any programme in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences must possess five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(a) Department of Earth Science

(b) Department of Pure and Applied Biology

(c) Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry

(d) Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics

(e) Department of Pure and Applied Physics

(f) Department of Science Laboratory Technology (g) Department of Statistics

B. SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In addition to departmental and UTME requirements, candidates must also possess the qualifications specified hereunder:

(i) Postgraduate Diploma Programme

For Postgraduate Diploma, candidates must possess Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree with at least 3rd Class in relevant disciplines or Higher National Diploma Certificate (HND) in relevant disciplines with at least Lower Credit. Candidates with MB; BS and DVM may be considered for Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry.

(ii) M.Tech./M.Sc Programme

Candidates must possess Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in relevant discipline. Also candidates with Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), holders of PGD in relevant disciplines must have a minimum score of 60% for M.Tech./M.Sc. Programme.

(iii) For admission to the M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes.

Candidates must have a minimum score of 50% for M.Phil and 60% for Ph.D in their Masters Degrees.

Applicants for Ph.D. may be required to commence with M.Phil/Ph.D. where appropriate.

C. DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

FULL-TIME

(i) Postgraduate Diploma - Minimum of two (2) semesters

(ii) Master - Minimum of three (3) semesters

(iii) M.Phil - Minimum of three (3) semesters

(iv) PhD - Minimum of six (6) semesters

PART-TIME

(i) Postgraduate Diploma - Minimum of three (3) semesters

(ii) Master - Minimum of six (6) semesters

(iii) M.Phil - Minimum of six (6) semesters

(iv) PhD - Minimum of eight (8) semesters
