Down Cemetery Road: Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson to Star in Apple TV+ Thriller

Apple TV+ has tapped Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and Ruth Wilson (The Woman in the Wall) to star in its upcoming thriller series, Down Cemetery Road, based on a book by Mick Herron (Slow Horses).

Slow Horses writer Morwenna Banks will executive produce the project, in addition to serving as the lead writer. According to a report from Deadline, Down Cemetery Road will center on a woman named Sarah Tucker (Wilson), who has found herself obsessing over her neighbor’s missing daughter. Determined to find the girl, Sarah enlisted the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Thompson). Along their journey, they will be embroiled in mysterious conspiracies involving life and death.

Per the synopsis, the series will follow “Sarah Tucker, who becomes obsessed with finding a neighbor girl who’s disappeared in the aftermath of a house’s explosion in a quiet Oxford suburb. After enlisting the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm in her quest, the pair find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”

The announcement came after the success of Slow Horses, bringing back the creative minds behind the Gary Oldman-led thriller.

Who else is involved in Down Cemetery Road?

Apart from Banks, the project’s executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and 60Forty Films’ Tom Nash. Both Thompson and Herron will also executive produce. On the other hand, Bay of Fires co-director Natalie Bailey will be the show’s lead director.

“‘Down Cemetery Road’ has all the hallmarks of Mick Herron’s funny and acerbic writing, and I’m delighted we will be bringing it to life for Apple TV+ with such a stellar cast. Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson will make it an unmissable companion piece for ‘Slow Horses’ on our service,” said Apple TV+’s Creative Director, Europe, Jay Hunt (via Deadline).
