AWCON 2016: Nothing special about Ghana – Omagbemi

Head coach of Nigeria’s senior women national team, Florence Omagbemi, has insisted she is not preparing her ladies specially, for Wednesday’s match against Ghana in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

The Falcons will be seeking to seal qualification for the next round, following their 6-0 win over Mali in the first group game .

Omagbemi was addressing media, after Tuesday’s training at the Molyko Stadium in Buea and insisted that they will prepare normally for the Black Queens.

“We are happy, we won the first game against Mali and we are trying to refocus our game plans and mindset,” she said.

“We are playing Ghana in our next, the communication with the group is that we are done with Mali and we have started preparing for Ghana.

“Every coach has their own style of controlling the team, that is the mindset of the Ghanaian coach.

“All the teams in Cameroon are here to compete for the title, and if the coach says they want to compete with Nigeria its fine.

“We are here to defend our trophy, we will take on them on the match day. We are taking on Ghana like every other team in the championship and we will approach the game with our plans.

“The rivalry is not our problems but the game, I don’t want to focus on the distraction off the field but the game and my team.”
