In a event earlier today in China, Samsung unveiled a rather huge device, Samsung Galaxy A9. The seemingly high-end phone has some specification that look pretty good on paper. The new phone stands on the thin border line between phablets and tablets: It’s a huge 6-inch device.
Despite the huge display size, Samsung ensures the display looks good with a full HD 1080p resolution. Samsung Galaxy A9 has a super AMOLED display and on top of that is a curved 2.5D glass for protection.
Samsung Galaxy A9 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and 3GB random access memory. The processor comes in the big.LITTLE configuration with 4 Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz GHz and the other 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.2GHz. There’s a 32GB internal storage which is expandable via SD card.
The device has a 4,000mAh battery to make up for all the power its likely to consume. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor built into the home button. A 13MP camera sits at the back and there’s a 8MP shooter for selfies. Samsung’s chose to ship the phone with Android Lollipop.
For now, the phone will only be available in China but there’s a chance it’s going to be available globally soon. There’s no word on the pricing yet.
