EFCC Must Stop Office Holders Fleeing Nigeria – Ex-deputy Gov

Former deputy governor of Kaduna State, Mr James Bawa Magaji has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop public office holders from fleeing the country.

Speaking with select journalists at his Kaduna residence yesterday, Magaji who was the Kaduna State governorship candidate in the 2015 election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) averred that if those whose tenure are expiring in the next few days have no skeleton in their cupboards, there won’t be any need for them to run away from the country under whatever pretence.

He expressed concern that some state governors are leaving behind huge debts for their successors to inherit, stressing that such state governors must be held accountable even after leaving office, and must be made to remain in the country to give explanations and account for their stewardship while in office.

He said, if ministers, state governors and other political office holders are allowed to flee the country, it might be difficult to hold them accountable for their actions if found wanting eventually. “Nigerians must rise up and hold government officials accountable.
