I Can’t Remember My Life Before L Met My Husband – Actor Ik Ogbonna's Wife, Sonia

Actor IK Ogbonna's wife Sonia Ogbonna spoke to Punch yesterday and gushed about how much IK has changed her life ever since she met him. Read Excerpts Beneath:

*.Background:

I am a blogger, life coach, relationship expert and a public relations executive at Motherland
Beckons. I was born into a Hispanic/Latin-American family but I grew up in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia). I got a scholarship to study at the University of Belgrade in 2009 and I studied Psychology and Sociology. I am currently studying for a master’s degree in Development of Third World Countries.

*.Relocation

I came to Nigeria with an open mind. I was ready to learn new things and fall in love with the culture, food, language, fashion and history.

*.Meeting my husband

I am married to a Nollywood actor, Ik Ogbonna and a mutual friend introduced him to my Instagram page. He got my Blackberry Messenger pin and the first message he sent to me was “Hello my wife.” At that time, we were continents away from each other, but that didn’t discourage him. It took him three weeks to convince me to visit Nigeria. We both followed our hearts and made the impossible quite easy. He told me he knew from the very start that I was his missing rib and that I would become his wife. I guess what is meant to be will always be.

*.Marriage

I have found marriage to be just a piece of paper that could mean a lot, but at the same time it could mean nothing. What really matters is the type of relationship you have with your partner.
Ik changed my life moments after I met him. He always brings the best out of me. I became more confident, ambitious, wiser and happier. It feels like I can’t remember my life before him.

*.Motherhood

Motherhood is a very powerful experience. I am grateful for having a child with the love of my life, someone who adores me and genuinely cares about me. A lot of people don’t get to experience that.

*.Privacy

The idea of me being open about my experiences and writing about them on my blog is to let people know that they are not alone and that nothing is as dramatic as it might seem. People are scared of making their weaknesses known. Most of us suffer in silence and feign perfection.
It is not a sin to feel pain, doubts, powerless, anxiety or frustration.

*.Criticisms

On social media platforms, I receive tons of beautiful, supporting, motivating and encouraging messages from amazing people on a daily basis, that it would be such a shame if I chose to focus on negative, petty little comments instead. However, I do not take it personal– people are mean to others when they are unhappy with their own lives and when they live in pain. It has nothing to do with me.

*.Charity

I’ve been involved in charity since 2009. I started as a Red Cross volunteer . Since I came to Nigeria, I have been involved in some educational projects in Lagos State.

*.Beauty

I drink about three to five litres of water every day. I love food, but I try not to eat after 8pm. I do a set of abs workouts every morning. I do not use creams; just raw, organic coconut oil, olive oil and shea butter.

*.Style

My style depends on my mood. Lately, I have been obsessed with ankara designs. But generally, I love simplicity and classic pieces.
