Nigerians ‘ll Gain More From Buhari – Tony Momoh
The President-elect,General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has been described as one of the simplest human beings in the world, who “stands to gain little or nothing by being President of Nigeria, but Nigerians will gain more from him than he will gain from us as President.”
This assessment was made by Prince Tony Momoh, one of Buhari’s close associates and former National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, under which Buhari contested the 2011 presidential election.
Momoh likened Buhari to a Guinea pig in the mould of Charles De Gaulle of France and Mandela of South Africa.

Reacting to the deluge of people rushing to congratulate Buhari on his election and expecting to impress him for appointment, Momoh said Buhari is a man of procedure, who does not believe in breaking rules.
“Nigerians can be assured that he would not be rushed into making decisions without obeying la!d down procedures. Those rushing to him will be disappointed because once you set up a programme with Buhari, he would ensure the rules are adhered to.
“If you do so, you are free with him, but if you deviate, you are in trouble even if you are his wife.”
Momoh, who was also Minister of Information during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida(retd), said Buhari would only make appointment based on the best interest of the country, saying only the best hands that will be committed to the task of laying a foundation for a better Nigeria will be appointed.
He said: “As long as you are competent, he would give you appointment without thinking of your party affiliation, tribe or religion.”
