‘October 1 will redefine filmmaking in Nigeria’ – Fred Amata

Following its well-attended screening at the Film House Cinema at The Marina Resort, Calabar on Wednesday, November 12, October 1 , Kunle Afolayan‘s latest offering has been described as a game-changing effort.

The screening of the movie, which was done as part of the going Africa International Film Festival at Tinapa, Calabar, Cross River State and fellow Nollywood producer, director and actor, Fred Amatawho came out to support his friend and colleague, was so impressed with the movie that he spoke glowingly of it afterwards.

Speaking after the screening, Fred said: ‘It is a production that would definitely redefine filmmaking in Nigeria and even the world. It’s good to see Nigerians now telling their own stories in their way.’
For Fred, who is of the renowned Amata movie making family in Nollywood, Afolayan’s effort does not just excite and thrill movie lovers, it is also ideologically and theatrically fantastic.
He, however, disclosed that he has one grudge against the ideology of the movie because he strongly believes that Nigeria should remain one nation, which he believes the producer doesn’t really portray well enough as far as the movie is concerned.
October 1made its cinema debut in Nigeria on October 1, 2014.
