Patience Jonathan: South-East, South-South youth groups vow to shut down Lagos, Abuja

?A coalition of South-East and South-South youth groups rose from a meeting in Enugu on Friday calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to stop what they called desperate moves to humiliate former first lady, Patience Jonathan.

The groups said the on-going probe of Mrs. Jonathan was nothing but a calculated attempt to embarrass the former President’s family.

?A communique issued at the end of the meeting was signed by the following groups: South East Youth Forum: Chika Chukwu, Igbo Youth Coalition: Ndidi Amalu, Niger Delta Youth Council: Deceline Horsefal, South East Students Movement: Onyeka Ado, Mgborogwu Umu Igbo: Osmond Eluwa and Ebonyi Youth Consultative Forum: Ndukwe Martin.

Others were Centre for Igbo Youth Affair: Akobudu Okere, Igbo Youth Network: Okeke Callistus, Ntorobia Igbo Congress: Silas Ononye?, Ndigbo Youth Rennaisance: Ekeledo Christian, Association of all Ngwa Youths: Olewengwa Magnus and? South-East/South-South Bridge: Douglas Brown.

?They resolved as follows:

“We the undersigned groups under the Coalition of Youths of South-East and South-South some of who are Affiliated to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths after an emergency meeting held at on Thursday 3rd November 2016 on the issue of the bank deposit of the former first Lady Mrs. Patience Jonathan and the trials going on with respect to that state as follows:

“We deplore the s£nsat!onalization of the matter and the attempt to denigrate the status of the former first lady.

“We have seen that the aim of the entire saga is to indict the first lady and disgrace her in the eyes of the public.

“The issue is being blown out of proportion to achieve a pre ordered arrangement.
We cannot fold our arms and allow this orchestrated and choreographed antics to play out.

“We, therefore, warn that we shall shut down the entire South-East/South-South, Lagos and Abuja in the next few days if this calculated effort to scandalize the former first lady continues.

“If the present action of the authorities is to have credibility, then past first ladies and past rulers of the country must have their bank accounts investigated too. What is good for the geese is also good for the gander.

“We also call on Mr. President to ensure that the anti-corruption authorities do not go outside their mandate and start witchunting people.”
