The two leading political parties in Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, have continued to trade words in the build-up to the July 30 rerun election.
While the APC is accusing its opponent of intentionally fomenting trouble in the state, the PDP said the party was colliding with the Independent National Electoral Commission,
INEC, to rig the elections.
In the latest accusation, the PDP has alleged that the APC has shortlisted names of INEC adhoc workers to rig the election in their favour.
Chairman of the PDP in Rivers state, Felix Obuah made the allegation while receiving a group of APC youths in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local government area who defected to the PDP.
Obuah said there was a plan by the APC to postpone the rerun election.
“In PDP we embrace peace. We believe in one man, one vote. We have it on good authority that they (APC) have compiled a list of those that will work as adhoc staff. That is their stock in trade.
“But we want to let the whole world know just like our Governor has said, if you like compile as many names as you want. You can even go and bring the National Chairman of APC to come and contest the election, as long as we all play according to rules PDP will still win,” Obuah said.
