A 28-year-old woman has been arrested by the Ocala Police Department detective for luring little boys to public bathrooms for s*x.
The woman identified as Maria Lynn Baker was arrested by Detective Melissa Buetti early Saturday morning on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery — based in part on video evidence — after the suspect declined to talk with Buetti about the allegations.
According to Ocala News, Baker, who was listed as homeless, had been arrested last month on disorderly conduct and trespassing, was adjudicated guilty on those charges and spent 15 days in the Marion County Jail. Baker declined to speak to the Star-Banner on Saturday.
She was arrested after she called the police to snitch on the boys but the boys told on her. An officer went to West Silver Springs Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, where Baker and another woman were arguing. The woman told the officer that she had evidence Baker was having sexual encounters with boys.
The woman showed the officer a video of Baker having sex with a boy. The officer detained her, and Baker told the officer that she was going to jail anyway so he should arrest her, according to OPD.
Buetti learned that Baker was having sex with two 12- to 14-year-old boys inside a bathroom at the War Memorial, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd., according to OPD officials.
Police officials said she could face more charges, as they believe there could be additional victims.
State records show Baker has been in and out of prison for various offenses, including battery and resisting arrest, since November 2006. She was released from prison in May 2016 and, in September, served 10 days in the county jail for trespass after warning.
