A member of the gang that killed Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Alkali, and his driver in Uju Forest in the Omoku area of Rivers State, has been arrested by the gallant officers of the Nigerian Police with the late officer's LG phone.

Speaking exclusively to SaharaReporters, a top police sources disclosed that 22-year-old Christian Chukwuemela Ekikeme, was nabbed at about 6:00pm on Saturday, following six days of tracking the cult gang that ambushed and killed Alkali and his driver, Sergeant Peter Uchi, during the December 10 federal legislative re-run polls in the state.

The arrest was assisted by the support of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) and the 48 Division of Police Mobile. Police sources disclosed that Ekiekeme, also known as Prince Okoroma, an indigene of Okposi village, near Omoku, was arrested by the operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Response Team (IRT) in Omoku, when he came out from the creek to visit his girlfriend.

Sources revealed that he confessed to the beheading of the DSP, adding that his head and driver's body were thrown into a river while the white Mitsubishi pick-up van belonging to the police was parked deep in Uju Forest with the key stuck in the ignition.
