Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Tracey had never been on stage before he auditioned for ITV’s popular variety show Britain’s Got Talent.

However, he was determined to turn his balloon-making hobby into an official world record and bring the title for Fastest time to model five balloon sculptures blindfolded home to Britain.

As if attempting this challenge in front of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, strict Guinness World Records adjudicator Vicky Tweedy was invited to the stage to oversee the attempt.

To set the record Ryan had to make a recognisable dog, flower, sword, caterpillar and snail in less than 1 min 3.6 sec – all with a blindfold tied over his eyes.



Much to the delight of presenters Ant and Dec and the cheering audience, Ryan made history with a new time of 1 min 1.3 sec.

“It was amazing,” said Simon Cowell. “In the last 10 seconds you did it. I’m going to remember I was here on the day you did.”

The Northern Irish government employee secured four yeses from the judges and a place in the next round of the competition.

Later on the show travelled to the London Palladium and the celebrity judging panel met Hagrid the dog and his owners Sarah and David Woodthorpe-Evans.

They too wanted to enter the history books and attempted the title Fastest time to catch 10 items by a dog.



After one failed attempt, the fluffy Leonberger successfully catches ten sausages in a record-breaking time of 14.76 seconds, as verified by GWR judge Christopher Lynch.
