A plane has been forced to make an emergency landing after a man on board went haywire and did something horrific to other passengers.

A video has shown the shocking moment some commuters on an airline flight were asked to help restrain an out-of-control man who began assaulting passengers.

Video footage, captured on Sunday, shows the man, sporting a red t-shirt, lashing out at those sat next to him before the plane had to be grounded.

You can see as his arms flap around, making a desperate attempt to strike others close to him on the flight.

Screaming can be heard before he reportedly bites into his victims.

According to Daily Star UK, this drama unfolded as a JetBlue flight was travelling above Utah, USA.

The situation began when the man began attacking passengers he already knew.

Doctors on board were asked to assist, but they were also beaten.

A witness, named Tom, intervened and held the man’s arms behind his back so he could be restrained.

Tom explained: “He was punching the passengers next to him, flailing his arms around, just acting irrational, crazy.

“I grabbed his hands behind his back and held him there while the flight attendants put the restraints on him.

"At that point, he started yelling and tried to come towards the flight attendant, behind me, at the time. I really had a hell of a time keeping him in place.”

JetBlue confirmed the man had been removed from the aircraft after the flight landed in Las Vegas.

In a statement they added: "Remaining customers resumed their scheduled flight to New York without further incident."
