Victory over Tanzania was a fair result - Onigbinde
Despite defeating the Taifa Stars, the former Super Eagles handler feels Gernot Rohr's side played below expectation
Nigeria's 1-0 win over Tanzania which came courtesy of a 77th minute goal from Kelechi Iheanacho was a fair result, according to former Eagles’ handler Adegboye Onigbinde.
The victory ensured Gernot Rohr got off to a winning start as Super Eagles handler at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
And the Caf and Fifa instructor insists it was a reasonable performance which was worthy of more goals.
"It was a fairly good result for Nigeria. We were expecting a better result in terms of goals. But victory is victory," Onigbinde told Goal.
"For [Kelechi] Iheanacho it was a good game, though we should have done better getting more goals from many chances we created.
"To be fair as a technical man who had coached for many years, It is impossible to assess the team. I really don't think it is professional judging the perfomance of the team by what I saw on TV.
"Everyone in the team must have made great contributions to the team winning the match, even the goalkeeper.
"However, I believe the coach [Rohr] as the hired technical adviser knows what pattern he wants to play and the quality of players that could give him the result,.”
