Russia 2018: Nigeria vs Algeria game will be boring – Victor Agali

Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Agali, is of the opinion that Saturday’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and North African giants, Algeria will be a boring affair.

The striker, who played under Gernot Rohr during the 2005/2006 season at OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1 and scored 11 times in 38 games, added that the match will be won from the bench.

The former Schalke 04 of Germany forward said both coaches – Rohr and George Leekeens – have a point to prove with the game, to gain more confidence from their employers.


He told Complete Sports, “The game won’t be interesting because both coaches know the consequences of losing.

“The game will be won from the bench and whoever takes the chances in the game stands a good chance of winning.

“Both coaches know the consequence of losing, so they will set up their team to avoid defeat.”

He added that the Nigerian gaffer will get the best out of Odion Ighalo and Brown Ideye just as he did with him at Nice.


Both Ighalo and Ideye are yet to score in their last two games for the Super Eagles.

Agali added, “He knows what to do to make them fire in the goals again. They are good strikers who must play around quality creative midfielder to score goals.”
