Pinnick says Nigeria will beat Algeria, qualify for 2018 World Cup

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has assured that the Super Eagles will not only defeat Algeria next week, but will go on and qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Pinnick revealed he has spoken with some of the players invited for the game and also added that the team’s Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has been monitoring some of them in Europe.

“The players are doing well in their respective clubs and barring injury and ill-health , they are raring not only to beat Algeria but to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. I spoke with Carl Ikeme yesterday and he told me he would be fit for the match with Algeria,” Amaju told Complete Sports.

“We are condemned not only to beat the Algerians but condemned to win well because we cannot afford not to qualify for Russia. We must defeat Algeria come November 12 in Uyo. We just need the support and prayers of Nigerians to achieve our target.”

Nigeria currently tops the group with three points, while Algeria and Cameroon have one point each. Zambia is yet to win a game.
