Livin’ on a Prayer is a hard rock glam metal song by rock band Bon Jovi, from their 1986 third studio album Slippery When Wet.

Jon Bon Jovi wrote the song with Richie Sambora and Desmond Child, while Bruce Fairbairn handled the production.

Mercury Records released the single on October 31, 1986, and it was met with much critical acclaim.

The song topped all the charts in the US, Norway, New Zealand and Canada. It reached Number 4 on the UK Singles chart, and also in Scotland, Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands.

It has received a 3x platinum certification in the US and is regarded as the band’s signature song, topping fan-voted lists and re-charting around the world decades after its release.
