AWCON 2016: Falcons focused on retaining title – Omagbemi

Head coach of Nigeria’s senior women national team, Florence Omagbemi, has said they are only focused on retaining the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations’ title.

The Falcons began the quest with a 6-0 ‘demolition’ of Mali on Sunday.

Arsenal Ladies forward, Asisat Oshoala, scored four times, while Francesca Ordega and Uchechi Sunday also scored at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.

Omagbemi, who captained Nigeria to win four continental titles, says their focus is on the next match against Ghana.

“I will say that’s the rhyme of the team and a way of getting themselves on top before they start a game,” the 41-year-old said in a post-match conference.

“We are just in the process, this is our first game for the group stage. Our target here is just to take every game as it comes.

“We know we are through with Mali and we are looking at the Ghana team to come up next. Our focus here is just to defend the title we won in 2014. That’s all.”
