Premier League: Chelsea go six points clear on top, United see off Palace

Chelsea have opened a six-point gap between themselves and second-placed Liverpool, after they defeated a resilient Sunderland team 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.

Cesc Fabregas scored the winner in the first half, slotting in Willian’s cut-back.

Manchester United needed a late goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. James McArthur had cancelled Paul Pogba’s opener in the second half.

Pep Guardiola’s wait for a home win ended on Wednesday night, after Manchester City claimed a 2-0 victory over Watford. Liverpool hammered Middlesbrough 3-0, West Ham beat Burnley 1-0 and Tottenham thrashed Hull City 3-0.
10-man Stoke City held Southampton to a 0-0 draw at home and West Brom defeated Swansea 3-1.
