We are not hungry politicians – Enugu APC replies ex-guber aspirant, Gbazuagu Nweke

The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday carpeted a former governorship aspirant in the State, Chief Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu, over a statement credited to him, where he was quoted to have described old members of the ruling party as hungry politicians.
Gbazuagu, who had failed in his several attempts to govern Enugu State had told journalists that “APC needs leaders, you need certain elements to be able to stand up to challenge anybody. And these people who hitherto were at the apex of the party in the state, please forgive them, because they have been in the opposition for 16 years and are hungry, no patronage, no accommodation of any sort.”

The politician recently defected to the APC, alongside other top politicians in the State.

However, reacting to his claims, Enugu State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mrs Kate Ofor said, “our door is open to accommodate new members, especially genuine and transparent new members, not corrupt ones; contrary to the statement credited to Chief Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu.”

She added that “We have been challenging undemocratic antics of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, hunger did not prevent us in challenging previous and current regime in Enugu State and cannot locate which patronage Chief Gbazuagu alludeded to.

“We are not hungry and we would want Chief Gbazuagu to name those who collect patronages. All we query is the exodus of Food is Ready politicians, who abandoned PDP after the party lost the presidential election in 2015.”
