Elton John goodbye england’s rose: Candle in the Wind is a tribute song (threnody) performed by English singer, pianist and composer Elton John, and co-written by English singer and lyricist Bernie Taupin.

The music was written in 1973 in honour of American actress, model and singer Marilyn Monroe, who passed away in 1962. It was produced by Gus Dudgeon.

However in 1997, Elton John performed a rewritten version of the song (Goodbye England’s Rose) produced by George Martin as a tribute to Princess of Wales, Diana.

This version of the song was much more successful than the original, reaching the number-one spot in almost every country countries.
