Kidnap suspect nabbed with stolen car in Abia

The Abia State Police Command on Wednesday said it had arrested a suspected kidnapper, identified as Kingsley Sunday, in Aba area of the state.
The suspect is alleged to be member of a notorious kidnap syndicate, led by one Agbayi, aka Onye Army, who was killed in a gun battle with the police in June 2016.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, who made this disclosure to newsmen, said operatives from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, acting on a privileged information on August 21, 2016, apprehended the suspect.


“A grey color Toyota Sienna with number plate, JJJ 227 EE belonged to one Mrs. Amaka Onwusoh was recovered from the suspect.

“The police got report that some kidnappers had entered into Aba through Ohanku and operatives were promptly dispatched to the area.

“Sunday was arrested during the operation and other members of the kidnap syndicate fled, including one Obere and Happy Boy.

“We want to do more of community policing and with the new innovation we have in place, we will do better.


“Efforts are on to track down the fleeing suspects,” the CP added.
