MFM defeat University of Lagos 3-1 in friendly

The varsity stepped up preparations for their Nuga Games qualifiers in September by bowing to Fidelis Ilechukwu's side on Thursday
Nigerian Professional Football League side MFM defeated the University of Lagos football team 3-1 in a friendly game at the University's sports centre.

Fidelis Ilechukwu's men came from a goal down to win the match with three goals in the second half.

Kelor Smith gave Unilag the lead after slotting a loose ball from Reuben Hyginus's corner kick past MFM's goalkeeper Emmanuel Nasamu.

Semiu Obatan scored the equaliser few minutes into the second half before Akor Isa put them in the lead after talking advantage of a defensive mix up.

Defender Uwaga Chuka secured the win after heading a set piece by Abisoyo Olatunde in the closing stage of the match.

After the encounter, coach Ilechukwu tipped the Warlords for success in the Varsity Games football event.

"The boys [UNILAG] are okay and better. I see them to go far in their tournament," he said.
The University of Lagos football team continue their preparation for next month's pre-NUGA tournament with two wins this week and one defeat.

MFM who are currently placed 13th in the NPFL will continue their league campaign with a game against Warri Wolves next week Wednesday at the Agege Stadium.
