In 2006, British singer and X Factor Season 3 winner Leona Lewis recorded and released her version of the song, housed on her 2007 debut studio album, Spirit..

Her version was largely successful, becoming the Christmas number one for 2006 and outselling the rest of the top 40 combined.

It was also Number 1 on the UK Singles chart, the UK Download chart and in Scotland and Ireland.

In addition, Lewis’ version has sold more than 920,000 copies as of date.
