Eminem To Produce Satire Battle Rap Movie
Eminem To Produce Satire Battle Rap Movie
Eminem is involved in another battle rap-related film, Bodied. However, rather than starring in it as with his semi-autobiographical 2002 blockbuster 8 Mile, he is serving as the upcoming film's producer. Music video director Joseph Kahn (who directed Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar), is also billed as producer.
Bodied, a battle-rap comedy and satire centered on race relations in America, will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie examines race relations and the moral panic surrounding hip hop’s place in society, specifically battle rapping, according to HipHopDX.
Kahn, who also directed 2004’s Torque starring Ice Cube, developed the story with former rap battle champion Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen. Charlemagne tha God, Debra Wilson, Anthony Michael Hall, Shoniqua Shandai, Alter Perez, Rory Uphold, Jackie Long, and Callum Worthy all appear in the film. Bodied will also feature battle circuit rappers Loaded Lux, Disaster, Dumbfounded, and Hollow Da Don.
