Campbell: I deserved to play more for Arsenal

The Costa Rica international is spending the 2016-17 campaign with Sporting but feels his performances warranted first team opportunities in north London

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell believes he deserved to be given another chance in the first team before being loaned out to Sporting.

Campbell joined the Portuguese outfit on a season-long loan deal in August after being deemed surplus to requirements by Arsene Wenger.

That was despite the Costa Rica international impressing for the Gunners last term following previous spells at Olympiacos and Villarreal.

And Campbell feels he did enough to warrant being given another chance in north London rather than having to ply his trade elsewhere in 2016-17.

"I feel good, This is a new experience," he toldA Bola.

"I think I deserved to play more after what I did last year, but now this is a new stage."
