Rio 2016 Olympics: Dream Team VI lose semi-final to Germany

Nigeria’s hopes of winning the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic men’s football competition, were effectively ended on Wednesday night, after the Dream Team VI lost 2-0 to Germany in their semi-final clash.
Lukas Klostermann opened scoring for the Europeans, sliding in a low cross from captain, Max Meyer.

Samson Siasia’s boys drew level almost immediately after the German goalkeeper fumbled the ball, but Roma striker Sadiq Umar squandered the opportunity.

Nigeria tried to get back into the match in the second half, but were let down by their disorganized play and lack of ideas.

Sub Petersen then sealed the game with a 90th minute goal, tapping home from an acute angle, although he appeared to be offide.

The Dream Team VI will now play Honduras in the third place match, while Germany take on Brazil in the final.
