Wenger issues warning over transfers

The Gunners boss insists the club are “very active” in their pursuit of new signings but admits sides are reluctant to sell their players at this point in pre-season Arsene Wenger says
Arsenal “might have to be good at poker” and has warned that the club’s transfer activity may be on hold until the middle of August.

The Gunners have already secured deals for Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding this summer but were rejected by Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, who was the subject of a £20 million offer.

Arsenal have also been linked with Vardy’s team-mate Riyad Mahrez,
And while Wenger insists Arsenal are “very active” in their attempts to add to their squad, he has urged fans to be patient as they try to get deals over the line.

“We look for offensive and defensive positions, we are very active in the transfer market, but it’s a long time to go,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“Everybody has the handbrake on at the moment.

“It’s a little bit of a poker game until mid-August, in my opinion.
We might have to be good at poker.”
