Notorious Bag-snatching Syndicate Arrested in Bayelsa State

Two notorious criminals who specializes in snatching bags from unsuspecting victims have been nabbed in Bayelsa State. The two arrested criminals are said to be minors and were at Julius Berger roundabout in the Yenagoa metropolis.

According to Punch, the two minors, whose names were given as Abel Miracle, aged 12, and David Agbagidi, aged 14. Luck ran out on them when a commercial tricycle operator, sensing their strange behaviour in his tricycle, alerted the police.


The suspects, knowing that the game was up, took to their heels, but the policemen chased and apprehended them. The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects boarded a tricycle from Swali to Kpansia.

Butswat said: “The driver of the tricycle, one Jacob Philip, drove to the Julius Berger roundabout and alerted policemen that he suspected the two children he was carrying were thieves.

“The children took to their heels and the policemen chased and arrested them. The sum of N134,400 was recovered from them. They confessed to stealing the money from a bag belonging to an unknown person at Swali waterside. Investigation is ongoing.”
