Nigerians Are Losing Confidence In NLC – Adams Oshiomhole

Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has said that Nigerians have lost confidence in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stressing that the new leadership of the congress has a lot to do to reclaim its credibility.

The governor who is a former president of the NLC stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the NLC in Abuja.

He said most Nigerians have the belief that the NLC had gone to sleep in the last eight years.
Oshiomhole said the NLC must set economic agenda for the incoming government to protect the interest of workers.

He said the NLC must also dialogue with outgoing governors who are owing their workers salaries to ensure that all unpaid salaries are paid to workers before they handover.

Speaking on the economy, he said the PDP led administration has mismanaged the nation’s economy, lamenting that the incoming APC government will be inheriting a huge debt burden.

On the NLC election, he said there is need for the union to put its house in order so as to work in unison in the interest of workers. He said labour activists should not behave like politicians who will do anything to get power.

He said the election that brought in Ayuba Wabba as NLC president was credible, free and fair.

In his remarks the NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, said the NLC is working hard to regain the confidence of workers. He said, “I am convinced that there is need to regain the confidence of our members and employers.”

He assured that the NLC will work with the incoming government to promote policies that will create jobs and empower more Nigerians.
