Hips Don’t Lie is a Latin pop salsa song by Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira, for the reissue of her seventh (7th) studio album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2. It features Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean.

The song was written and produced by Shakira, Wyclef Jean, Jerry Duplessis and LaTavia Parker.

It was released as the second single from the album on 28 February 2006, and so began the wildfire.


Hips Don’t Lie topped the US Billboard Hot 100, UK Singles chart and the charts in more than 40 other countries. The song and music video won the numerous awards, including a People’s Choice Award. It also broke the record for the most radio plays in a single week and the fastest selling digital download song in the US.

Having sold over 13 million copies worldwide, Hips Don’t Lie is one of the best-selling singles of the 21st century.
