Many Chelsea fans booed Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa ahead of the side’s Premier League tie with Sunderland on Saturday.— Liam Twomey (@liam_twomey) December 19, 2015
ESPN’s Chelsea correspondent, Liam Twomey, captured the moment boos rang out as the duo’s names were read out on the tannoy at Stamford Bridge.
Reports suggest the under-performing pair may have had a part to play in Roman Abramovich’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho on Thursday.
The Portuguese manager found himself under an enormous amount of pressure as a result of the Blues’ disastrous defence of their Premier League title from last season.
Chelsea currently sit 16th in the league, perilously close to the relegation zone, and Guus Hiddink has been brought in as interim boss until the end of the season to try and steer the side out of trouble.
