Aloma delighted with Rivers United win

After inspiring Rivers United to a dominant 2-0 victory over Ikorodu United in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match on Friday morning, Idris Aloma is confident that the club's title dreams is still intact.

The talented left back scored the first goal and provided the assist for Onyekachi Okafor's goal e as the Pride of Rivers won against the Oga Boys at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.

With the win Rivers United have 47 points from 28 games in third place, one point adrift leaders Enugu Rangers.

"I'm so elated playing such a pivotal role in helping my team win such a crucial match," Aloma told Goal.

"We worked so hard for this victory and got the reward.

"Our title bid is still on track. We are one point below Rangers. With eight more games still left to be played we have high hopes of ending as champions at the end of the campaign.

The match was moved to Friday morning after heavy downpour at the match venue a day earlier and Aloma thanked the fans that took their time to cheer the team to victory.

"We appreciate the support of the supporters of this great club. They still found time out of their tight schedule to root for us after the game wasn't concluded on Thursday due to the heavy rain. Our gratitude to them," he added.
