Serie A to hold one-minute silence at matches for earthquake victims

Teams in Italy’s Serie A, will observe a minute of silence this weekend, in honour of the victims of an earthquake that rocked the central part of the country on Wednesday.
According to the Italian Football Federation, the national teams will also wear black armbands “in a sign of solidarity during a time of such great pain for the entire country.”

At least 37 people are reported to have died in the magnitude 6 quake.


The quake struck at 3:36 a.m (0136 GMT) and was felt across a broad swath of central Italy, including Rome.

Serie A matches are will be played on Saturday and Sunday, while the national team takes on France in a friendly on September 1 in Bari.
