Must Read: My Husband

Jacob had become busy at work and busy means,he calls her
early in the morning and late at night.His work wouldn’t let
him,what do you expect,a young man controlling large expanse
of business,he was always travelling,just a phone call and he is
on his way out of the country,to execute one project or the
other,attending one meeting here and there,speaking at seminars
and conventions.



The Smiths corporation occupied a large building,a three
storey,spacious compound for staff and customers to pack their
cars and a mini eatery that served continental dishes,being the
headquarters office,it was famous all around.Clients troop in
from all over the world.
Jacob’s office was situated on the third floor,a very spacious
office,the mahogany desk he used had two arm chairs in front of
it,a mini sitting arena at the other angle where he received
personal guest,a refridgeratoe and a mini bar.His secretary’s
office was right before his own.His secretary Sharon was a
plump but tall lady,she’s smart and easy to work with.
Jacob arrived at work some minutes past eight am,he nodded as
Sharon greeted him,he walked to his office ,removed his suit and
sat down.



Sharon came in wearing a blue jacket on a yellow camisole,she
wore a blue straight knee length pant that hugged her perfect
curves,she looked beautiful and too s*xy** for a secretary,She
brought some files in.
‘Sir,these are the files for BOLLYKaY group of company,Mr Kunle
is through with it,and here is KFacTOrs holdings file too’she said
smoothly
‘Is that all!’ Jacob asked placing the files on cabinet.
‘Yes Sir’ she excused herself,as she was about to open the
door,she turned back.
‘Excuse me sir,one more thing,Miss Katherine called this
morning,she asked you to call her’she said carefully and went
out.



At the mention of the name Katherine,his mind snapped back.
What? Why did she call? Katherine whom he fondly referred to as
Kat was his ex girlfriend of nine months,they had everything
going fine until she started seeing another man,a french named
Sebastian.She came up with different excuses,before they finally
broke up.Kat came back two months later to apologize,he
accepted her apology but refused to have anything to do with her
again.
He had made it clear that it was over indeed.Kat was a good girl
from a rich home though she was a spoilt girl who always got
everything anyhow.She had a great body with killer curves.



Jacob picked up his phone and dialled Kat’ number,she picked it
at the first ring.
‘Hi Katherine’ Jacob said,he stood up from his chair and stood by
the window.
‘Hello Jacob dear’ she said,her voice was sharp and she sound
delighted.
‘Kat,Sharon informed me that you called” he said,playing with
the curtain of the window.
‘Yes,i did call,i tried your mobile earlier,it was going through,that
was why i called your office line,actually i want to see you’ she
said carefully in one breath.



‘See me?’ Jacob asked.
‘See you,or is too much to ask of you’ Kat replied
‘Ofcourse,its just that am busy this days’ Jacob said.
‘What about dinner at my place over the weekend’she said
‘Thats out of it Kat’
‘How about Dinner about The StriKeRs’she asked again.
‘Lunch at Foodco sounds better’
‘Is saturday okay with you?’Kat said
‘Thats it then,bye for now’ he agreed
‘Bye Jacob’ She said happily into the mouthpiece
Jacob dropped his phone on the table and called for a cup of
coffee.
Jacob left the office quarter past three,well it was quite early for
someone who would not drop his pen till dusk…..he was
partially married to his work.He had left because,his head was
about to break,he had a head smashing ache.he drove home,as
luck was on his sides,there was no traffic.
The sun shone brightly in all its glory adding to his bundle of
pain.



He horned four times before Adamu opened the gate,he drove in
while Adamu closed the gate and ran to meet Jacob.
‘Oga Jay,welcome o’ Adamu greeted him
‘Adamu what took you so long to open the gate?’ he wasn’t
smiling
‘I bin dey watch TV o,oga Jay no vex,and this one wey you quick
come home,se no wahala ba!’Adamu joked.
‘Hey,Adamu,this is no time for jokes,i have headache,just bring
my suitcase in and lock the car’ Jacob said walking away from
Adamu,he walked across the well trimmed lawn.


‘So,Oga Jay fit get headache,nawa o,anyway make i carry this tin
go inside’ he locked the car and carried the bag in.
It was late in the evening when Jacob woke up,the last he
remembered was having a little lunch,he had taken some pills
and knocked out on his couple bed.He felt better now,he
stretched his hands to pick his phone,he had eight missed
calls.he dropped the phone and was abt getting up from the bed
when his mother walked in.


‘Huh,Mum you should knock before coming in’Jacob said looking
at his mother.



‘Well,am in already,sorry about that.I checked you twice but you
were still relaxing and i didnt want to bother you’ She said
lightly,she sat down on his bed and paused.
‘Mum,i know you’re here for something,but cant it wait,am kind
of tired’ He tried to brush off his mother,because he knew
that,whatever it was that brought her in must be important and he
wasn’t in the mood for talks.


‘Son,listen,it can’t wait.’she stood up and sat on the chair by his
dressing table ‘some rumors have been flying around about
you,and i’ld like to confirm them’she said.


Jacob prayed,it wasn’t about Janet,as he had anticipated,
‘And what did you hear? Mother of mine,when did you start
listening to gossips’ he challenged her.



‘Well,i listen to important ones,if you must know.Is it true what i
heard?’ she said
‘Am no wizard mother,what have you heard’ he questioned her
‘You remember that poor thing,you brought home the other time,i
heard you bought her family a big house and now rumor has it
that you bought her a car last month.’
Jacob shifted on the bed but refused to say a word.


‘My dear,answer me’
‘Mum,all this has got nothing to do with you’ he said,standing up
from the bed.
‘No,it has everything to do with me,if you must know’ she
snapped.
Jacob knew he was treading dangerous grounds now.’Mum,thats
my personal business’ he said.
‘Look at you,what do you know about personal business?’
‘I am the one dating her,please let me be,i know its Jackie
feeding you all this nonsense’ Jacob answered,trying not to get
angry.



Just then Jackie walked in,not aware of the boiling atmosphere.
‘I just searched the whole house looking for you Mum’ she
laughed happily,bursting to share her goodnews with her
family,but there was no response
‘Hey brother of mine,you’re home early today’ mother and son
looked at each other.




‘Now,whats happening?whats wrong?’why are you two starring
at me like that?’
No answer.
As she was about to leave the room,Jacob spoke
‘Sis,am tired of Mum interfering in my affairs’ he almost
screamed.


‘Calm down Jay,What is it?’ Jackie stood beside him and put her
arms around his neck. ‘Mum,what did you say to him’ Jackie
asked
Their mother eyed Jacob,’Is it too much of me,to tell my son not
to waste his money on a poor thing!’ she snapped
‘Mum,don’t you ever call Janet a poor thing again,and this
conversation is OVER!’
his voice thundered,and walked out of the room.



‘Jacob Adekunle Smith,you walk out on me because of that poor
thing,i can’t believe this’ she walked round the room and sat on
the bed looking sad.

‘Mother,so it is about this lady again?huh?Jay is no longer a
child,he’s twenty six!
‘Please Mother,don’t get worked up over nothing.’
‘The poor thing is after his name and M0NEY!’ she sighed and
walked out too,leaving Jackie to follow her.


Jacob screamed at Adamu and ordered him to open the
gate.Adamu knew his boss rarely screamed,he opened the gate
and Jacob drove out,it was dark already.


Just as Adamu was about closing the gate,Ruth came by
carrying a basket.
‘Ruth baby,wetin i fit give you o’Adamu said moving to her side.
‘Don’t give me anytin,here is your food’ she said dropping the
basket and turned to leave.
‘So?you wan comot like that abi,com inside make we play small
jo’ Adamu teased her
‘Hey,dnt touch me o,if you dnt wnt me to shout’
suddenly adamu grabbed her waist and started kissing her,Ruth
made no move to stop him,he began gropping at her round and
soft b0s0m,Ruth laughed too.


‘Ruth,where are you’ Someone screamed.
