Ogomudia, Omu, others eulogise Egbuwoku as street is named after him

The whip of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic under the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and philanthropist, the late Chief Tom U.B.T. Egbuwoku, has been honored. It was at his burial in his hometown, Emede, Idsoko South Local Council at the weekend. The old Oleh/Emede Road w renamed Chief Tom U.B.T. Egbuwoko Road by the Chairman, Isoko South Local Council, Sir Ithiako Constantine Ikpokpo, at Emede community.
Former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alexander Ogomudia (rtd), while commiserating with the children of Egbuwoko, said the distinguished politician was recognised because of his contributions to the society.

Ogomudia said the importance of naming the road after Egbuwoko was to constantly remember him for his political doggedness and proven track records in the history of Isoko land. He commended Ikpokpo for the initiative, noting that the road was uncompleted and urged the council chairman to make a budget towards the completion of the road.


Senator Stella Omu while commiserating with Egbuwoku’s children, prayed for their unity and long life. She said Egbuwoku served Nigeria as a grassroots politician, adding that the honour was in appreciation of what he did for Isoko people and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ikpokpo, while commending Emmanuel Egbabor, Chairman Isoko North Local Council, Orezi Esievo, member Delta State House of Assembly representing Isoko South constituency 1, Joel Onowakpo Thomas, State Coordinator, Federal Inland Revenue for Delta, Edo and Rivers States, noted that Egbuwoku never had a dull moment during his life time.

The council boss said Isoko was recognised nationwide through his political career as a member of the Federal House of Representatives from 1979 to 1983, adding that his place has been persevered for posterity because of the influence he wield on Isoko political history. He urged elected political office holders to serve diligently.

Pastor Mazino Yole Egbuwoku, while commending Ikpokpo for the gesture, also thanked all Emede chiefs and Ogomudia for the honor done to their father. He pledged to follow the footsteps of his father, who loved Isoko.
