Chid came as usual, one of his regular visits, when he wanted to go, i decided to see him off,, we were discussing while walking. Suddenly we heard gunshots, i was stunned and scared at the same time, by this time everybody started running helter skelter trying to take cover, flying bullets where just everywhere, it was looking like thieves fighting with the police with gunshots exchanging bullets. I and chidi also tried to take cover, then i noticed a bullet coming towards my chest, i wasnt fast to dodge suddenly chidi covered me with his body tring to avoid the bullet from hitting me when the bullet suddenly hit his back. I was stunned, i didnt know what happened, chidi slowly fell from my arms, he was in a pool of blood, i couldnt cry i was just blank. In no time the fuse stopped as people ran towards us, they helped me in carrying chidi to a near by hospital, i took his phone and called his mum, 20 minutes later, she was already in the hospital, docrtors were attending to chidi already
when she saw me, she was already crying asking of her son and i told her where he was
she came out of the ward where chidi was and came to where i was
chidi’mum: how did it all happen

me: (crying) he was hit by a flying bullet mum

chidi’s mum: so how did you know about it

me: i was at the scene ma

chidi’s mum: thanks for calling me on time

me: its nothing ma, he is a friend of mine, ma i have to go home now before my parents would start looking for me. I will be here tommorow morning, nothing will happen to him mum, i know

chidi’s mum: God bless you my daughter, take care
i left the hospital premises devastated, i couldnt tell his mum he took the bullet for me, i wished he didnt come to visit me, i just prayed nothing happens to him. I couldnt believe he took my bullet for me. Tears dropped from my eyes
