18-year-old arrested in Covington school bomb threat

Covington police have arrested an 18-year-old after a threat that Holmes High School would be "blown up" was made on social media.
Covington Independent Schools canceled classes Friday and no bomb was found after a sweep of the buildings.
Carlos "Mikey" Vanderpool confessed to making the threat against the high school at 2500 Madison Ave., police said.
Vanderpool faces charges of terroristic threatening, a felony. He is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center.
Normal activities were to resume at Covington Independent School District after the all-clear was given.

A basketball game planned for Friday night and Saturday's ACT exams were to go on as scheduled.
"Although the threat was vague and anonymous, safety is of paramount importance and I will always err on the side of caution,'' said Alvin Garrison, district superintendent, in a news release. "The safety of our students and staff comes first."
