FG To Probe UniAbuja, UNN UNIUYO, Others for Fraud & Sexual Harassment
The Nigerian Education Minister, Malam
Adamu Adamu, has inaugurated
committees to investigate the
managements of ten tertiary institutions
in the country over allegations of abuse
of due process, financial mismanagement
and sexual harassment.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the
minister said the ministry had received
numerous complaints against the
governing councils and management of
some universities and polytechnics and
resolved to set up fact-finding
committees to determine the veracity of
the claims and give appropriate
recommendations.
Adamu said that government will act
based on the recommendations of the
committees.
The institutions are the Michael Okpara
University of Agriculture, Umudike
(MOUAU) in Abia State; Federal University
Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State; University of
Uyo (UNIUYO) in Akwa Ibom state,
Federal University Kashere in Gombe
State; University of Calabar (UNICAL) in
Cross River State and University of
Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in Enugu state.
Others are Federal Polytechnic Oko in
Anambra State, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi
in Edo State, Yaba College of Technology
(YABATECH) in Lagos State and
University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) in FCT.
