President Barack Obama is currently the leader of the world’s most powerful nation but before he ventured into politics he lived a pretty basic existence. Obama was born Barack Hussein Obama II on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, US.

Here are 10 things you didn’t know about the US President as he turns 54 today:

1. He once sold ice cream at US franchise, Baskin-Robbins.

2. He worked as a painter.

3. He waited tables at a housing facility for people with disabilities.

4. He spent one summer clearing construction sites.

5. He lived with his wife in her mother’s house for one year after finishing law school.
6. He is the 44th President of the United States.

7. In religion, he is a Protestantism.

8. He attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, Columbia University in New York, and later, Harvard Law School—with the help of scholarship money and student loans.


9. Barack Obama was sworn in as president on January 20th, 2009

10. And he is a blackman
