Ondo APC ward chairmen deny endorsing aspirant

All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairmen in Ondo State have denied endorsing any of the 25 governorship aspirants of the party ahead of the August 27, primary election.
They said they would only endorse and work for an aspirant, who emerges the Party’s candidate after a free and fair primary poll.

They warned against changing of the primary election date and doctoring of the delegate list.

This was contained in a communiqué issued and signed by 136 of them after a meeting in Akure, the state capital and which was attended by 134 of them.

They include, Muyiwa, Benjamin Woleola (Ose), Mr. Balogun, Mr. Babatunde Samuel(Owo), Mr. Dele Oladokun, Atepa Omoyajowo (Akoko South East), Chief Sehinde Mese, Elder Afred Omosola (Akoko South West), Mr. Balogun Rasheed, Amuleya Wajimu, (Akoko North East), Orojo Peter, Ogunkolade Amos (Akoko North West), and Adewumi Omolade, J.O Ologun (Akure North).

Also in attendance were Alhaji Tajudeen Babalola, Femi Falokun (Akure South), Isijola Ahmed Musa, Kayode Olubodun (Ifedore) Chief O. Ogundolure, Mr. A. Akinde (Idanre), Mr. Oyawole Lateef, Tijani Akeem (Ondo East), Chief S.O Akinkunmi, Mr. Taoheed Agbajelola (Ondo West) and Akinwumi Shapore, Akinsuroju Charles Olukole (Ile-Oluji).

Others were Fatai Olawale,Lucky Friday (Odigbo) Babatunde Johnson Ajigbate Ayetiran (Irele), Olaseun Daisi, Chief Oluyeye (Okitipupa), Mr. Ijitemi Tomola, Durojaye Akinwumi (Ilaje) and Aderanijo Sunday, Chief P. Godwin (Ese-Odo).
The chairmen said there was no where they held a meeting and endorsed a particular candidate.

They noted that the initial meeting scheduled at the Party Secretariat in Akure could not hold due to the fact that the place was locked by aggrieved members.

They insisted that there was no place where 203 ward chairmen unanimously took a decision to back an aspirant.

The communiqué reads, “We the ward chairmen did not for once hold any meeting and took a decision and endorsed a particularly aspirant.

“We still stand on our agitation that there must be free and fair primary election just as we had it in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Edo states.

“We are ready to work for the success of any of the aspirants, who emerges the party’s candidate after the party.

“We therefore caution any member or officer of the Party from using our name for personal interest and to sow a seed of discord in our great Party”.
